The swell I heard from my balcony early morning of 11-22-09 lived up to expectations fully. As a matter of fact, its still good sized and super clean this morning, even as I write this. But Ive three days of photographs to process, a total of around 1600 shots, and two days worth of dishes in the sink, the guinea pig cage needs cleaning, the laundry is stacking up, and Im way behind on posting to this gallery. Sunday I shot down at Boca Rio, then Monday-Tuesday I was up around Descanso/Cortez, as there was a macking, reeling, pounding barrel of a wave breaking up there. Too many closeouts, but there were some spectacular rides none-the-less.
So I needed to take a pass on shooting this morning.
Previews of shots that will eventually be posted to this gallery are available for viewing in slide shows posted on YouTube here [link] .
Im really beginning to feel the limitations of my camera equipment. I have a Canon EOS 400D, and a Tamaron 300mm non-image-stabilized lens. Shooting down at Boca Rio and the Slough on a big swell, with it breaking pretty far out, Im just not getting the closeness, and sharpness, that I would like in the images. But something is better than nothing I suppose. First on my list is a mono-pod to help hold the camera steady.
I guess thats it for now.
Thanks to all for looking, faving and +watching. ALOHA and keep the stoke.

Did you know you can use the DownLoad button to the right of the photos in the gallery to down load a full size version of the shot? Just click the DownLoad button, wait for it to load to your screen, then left click for full size, then right click to save as.
Did you know I keep a minimum of shots in the Featured section of my gallery. To the left are folders containing full sets of photos for each month or other subjects, such as Sky. Just click on the folder and itll take to the sub-gallery.

Id like to spotlight a special deviant that has happened by my gallery. She is [link] LaColombeDe Deuil or kattie, as she signs her comments.
She has written the most beautiful comment on a deviation, pure poetry. Im going to quote them here for now,
In the wave, feel the power that is yours to take
This is just a dream, for the ocean has many secrets
But you are mastering her, she is your mistress
And her silken arms are welcoming you into the white
lace of her desires.
and you wait, and you can feel it in the breeze -
it is the ocean and she is sending a gift
for you to fly on - stretch your wings
LaColombeDe Deuil or kattie
Wow. Imagine finding such a comment on your work. Im beside myself. Stop by her gallery, she has pages of some of the most beautiful and deep poetry.

SPONGEBOBBOOGERMAN!
I've been doing photography going on about 15 years now. I do have a passion for all types and style photography, but also an obsession with the surf. So in addition to my regular 'working' account here [link] I created this account, to post nothing but surf, surfers in the surf, waves and other directly beach related stuff. In part to keep from boring my watcher's on the other account to death, in part to have a place where the surfer's on these waves can go to download a shot of themselves, doing what they love to do.
In addition to photographing the surf. I do like to ride. I ride boogieboards, with a set of fins mounted on. Gives a lot of extra speed and stickyness in a steep wave. That's where the account title comes in. I'm a 'sponger', my names Robert or Bob, and so that makes me a Boogerman.
Two things about this account.
(1) This is photojournalism. The express purpose is to document and share the happenings in the surf. Not a stock photography account, and no prints are for sale. Feel free to download for your own viewing enjoyment. But absolutely do not re-post anywhere else on the internet, do not offer for sale anywhere, at anytime, to anybody.
(2) If you are the surfer on the wave in any one of these photographs, then you are free to download, copy and use the photo in what ever way you wish. I do however maintain full copyright and all the rights and priviledges that go with it, on the photograph. Simply, I own it, you can use it. The exception is, you may not use it for re-sale to a stock photo company.
